Appointment of members to East Midlands Regional Sports Board
Sport England is looking for outstanding women and men for key appointments as members of the East Midlands Regional Sports Board. The Board has delegated responsibility for strategic regional leadership and grant distribution.
We are looking to appoint new members to the Board with a range of skills and experience, who can be available up to 12 days pa. Members of Regional Sports Boards are expected to live or work in the region and will serve on a voluntary basis, although reasonable expenses will be paid.
Key experience and skills required for members are:
- The ability and willingness to act as an advocate for sport.
- Passionate about sport, have a desire to make a difference to sport in the East Midlands and can influence other sectors to sport’s advantage.
- A knowledge and understanding of a key area of East Midlands life. In particular we need to recruit expertise in the following areas – higher/further education, the private sector, performance sport and coaching.
- The ability to think imaginatively and strategically and to contribute to effective decision-making.
The Board is keen to ensure its composition accurately reflects the diverse nature of the East Midlands region and would welcome, in particular, applications from people who are able to reflect the needs of under-represented groups and communities from across the region.
Candidates will also need to have an appreciation of propriety, regularity and accountability in all aspects of the work.
