Sports equality is about fairness in sport, equality of access, justice, inclusion, and respect for diversity. The region recognises that inequalities do exist in sport, and that positive and proactive steps are needed to overcome these inequalities.

There is a need to change the culture and structure of sport to ensure that it becomes equally accessible to all members of society, whatever their, age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or socio-economic status.

The East Midlands Sports Equality Group has been established to address the inequalities that exist within sport in the region. The group provides strategic leadership, co-ordination and advocacy for equity in sport in the region.

England to play matches in the region
England's womens cricket team will be visiting the region this summer, playing one day and Twenty 20 international matches at Loughborough University, Chesterfield and Northampton.

Inclusive Fitness Intiative Equipped for Inclusion - A holistic approach to creating an inclusive fitness suite
The IFI is running a series of seminars during 2008-2009. Building on the success of the first series of seminars which focused on Inclusive Marketing, the second series targets the fitness suite specifically, in particular how and why creating an accessible fitness suite can benefit users.
