The 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games were a tremendous success for Loughborough University’s athletes, winning an incredible 30 medals, including 8 Golds.

Building on the previous success of 18 medals in the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, the achievement of the athletes was so great that if Loughborough had entered the Games as a country they would have been ‘eighth’ in the official medals table.
