Sport & the Further Education Sector
The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills have sponsored the development of case studies in the East Midlands. Each of the five County Sports Partnerships were asked to select a project that they felt highlighted the contribution of the further education sector to the delivery of sport within the region. Whilst the selected projects represent a wide diversity of activity, their methods and outcomes do provide some common examples of good practice and sources of relevant information that can benefit all the County Sports Partnerships when adopting a regional approach to working with the FE sector.

National cross-sectoral survey of culture & sport in England and associated local surveys
A Sport England briefing note provides an overview of the new cross-sectoral survey for culture and sport in England which will provide national and regional data on sports participation. It also provides an update on progress to put in place a comprehensive local participation survey that will provide data to enable benchmarking of performance for every local authority in England.

Towards an Excellent Service Final Report
Sport England East Midlands is co-ordinating a project that seeks to create an excellence framework for sport and recreation services and provide a basis for self-assessment that will enable services to achieve continuous improvement.

This report published in July 2005 is the final review and report of this phase of the project and was submitted to the ODPM and to Sport England as the formal end of the project.

Audit & research of performance sport in the East Midlands
The Regional Sports Board established a Performance Action Group to oversee work on the the East Midlands being the most successful sporting region in England. An audit of performance sport was commissioned by the group in late 2004 in order to outline the vision, value, potential and priorities for the region. The final report is both inspirational in the outstanding features of the region and aspirational in vision to be a truly world class region.

Reduced inequalities
East Midlands audit & infrastructure needs for equity in sport

The Regional Equity Reference Group functions as a sub group of the Regional Sports Partnership, which is responsible for implementing policy set by the Regional Sports Board (RSB).

The group contains reprensentatives from the RSB, English Federation of Disability Sport, VOICE East Midlands (representing BME communities), National Governing Bodies and Sport England in an advisory capacity.

The group has recently commissioned research into the equality infrastructure in the East Midlands

Sport and the HE/FE Sector in the East Midlands
Sport England, University College Sport and British College Sport has engaged consultants PMP to produce a report into "Sport and the HE/FE Sector in the East Midlands".

The finding of the report are due to be presented to the UCS East Midlands group at their meeting in June. The project has been co-funded by Sport England, University College Sport, British Colleges Sport, University of Nottingham and The University of Leicester.
