Active People Survey
The Active People Survey will collect information on a number of indicators to enable us to get an insight into how physically active the nation is. The data will give Local Authorities, County Sports Partnerships and Primary Care Trusts important benchmark information to help drive increases in the number of people who take part in sport and physical activity. This relates to the National Framework for Sport target to increase participation in sport by 1% per year. More Info. PDF (173KB)
Choosing Health in the South East : Obesity
Launched in November 2005, this new report documents the prevalence of obesity in the region by SHA and PCT (synthetic estimates). The report also illustrates the impact of socio-demographic factors on overweight and obesity in the South East and includes case studies of local projects to tackle the problem. National Governing Bodies & County Sports Partnerships Interface
A recently produced framework and guidance document PDF (306KB) for National Governing Bodies of sport and County Sports Partnerships in developing sport at a county level. The document and guidance will support discussions and negotiations between members of the 'core' County Sports Partnership team and regional/county sports-specific development officers. The document includes a number of recommended principles, outcomes and methods of engagement to ensure the interface between National Governing Bodies and County Sports Partnerships is consistent and effective, and to the benefit of sport within a given geographic area.
The National Survey of Culture, Leisure and Sport
The DCMS National Survey is going ahead after a number of years in gestation. The fieldwork recently started in July and will run every month for the next three years (as currently contracted).
The final questionnaire PDF (217KB) can now be viewed giving you a feel for the scope and content of the survey.

Community Sport Networks
Sharing good and promising practice
Community Sport Networks (CSNs) are fast becoming essential to the delivery of sport and physical activity in the South East.
Sometimes called Sport and Physical Activity Alliances (SPAAs) or Sport and Physical Activity Networks (SPANs), they draw together key partners to pool resources and prioritise plans for the local delivery of community sport.
