30 June 2008 - £500k for new indoor netball facility in Stourport. Stourport Sports Club will be the home for a new ‘state of the arts’ indoor netball facility that will help develop the sport in the region.

28 May 2008 - 14 venues in the West Midlands to appear in Pre-Games Training Camp Guide for Paralymic sports. The list of all potential Pre-Games Training Camps for visiting teams to the London 2012 Paralympic Games was announced by LOCOG, today, 28 May 2008.

8 May 2008 - National Lottery awards worth over £1.1m go to 8 projects across the region. Sport England has made the awards from the Community Investment Fund to projects that will make a real difference to the take up of sport in the West Midlands.

7 April 2008 - Sport England Board member supports Dave Heeley’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ attempt. Philip Calcutt, WM Regional Sports Board member, will run the Flora London Marathon with Dave Heeley, the incredible blind runner from Sandwell – the last marathon in his 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days challenge!

4 April 2008 - National Lottery awards totalling £204,194 made to projects across the West Midlands. Sport England’s Community Investment Fund is supporting organisations in their work to get more people active through sport in the region.

18 December - Three West Midlands’ projects celebrate National Lottery sports awards. Sport England has awarded £365,803 from the Community Investment Fund over the last few weeks.

28 November - A new prestigious sports award to be made at the BBC Midlands Sport Awards 2007. The Sport England sponsored BBC ‘Power of Sport Award 2007’ trophy will be presented to a community sports project at the event on the evening of Sunday, 2 December

PAN-WM - annual conference 10 December, 2007 - Legacy for a Lifetime
Lord Coe was the keynote speaker at the event. He then went on to tour the region - please view the press release issued
Sport England Regional Conference
This was an event for key partners held on 23 November 2007 (by invitation only). The key areas for discussion were the new Local Area Agreements and the Sports Market Segmentation information from the Active People Survey.
