Olympic and Paralympic Participation Legacy - Free Swimming

London Sports Forum for Disabled People are delighted with the news that free swimming will be offered to all by 2012, as part of the Olympic and Paralympic London 2012 participation legacy.

London Sports Forum for Disabled People believe the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a catalyst to increase participation at grass root level, and fully endorse this initiative in helping London achieve a one per cent increase in regular participation by disabled people in sport and physical activity each year.

Swimming is one of the most popular activities undertaken by disabled people and offering free facilities removes the cost barrier and increases the opportunity for inactive disabled Londoners to participate.  The prevalence of disability increases with age and the organisation welcomes that this offer will initially target the over 60 age group.  London Sports Forum for Disabled People looks forward to working with providers, clubs and facilities to ensure disabled people have access to free swimming across London.
