Following the launch of the ‘London Investment Strategy for Community Sport 2007-09 – Creating an active capital through sport and active recreation’ at the Brit Oval in Vauxhall with over 80 partners in attendance Sport England recently held Investment Workshops in each Pro-Active London Partnership area to showcase the strategy and funding opportunities. The strategy is a key document to help guide Sport England’s financial investment in community sport and active recreation in London during the next two years on its remaining Community Investment Fund budget of £17.81m through to 2009.

The workshops were aimed at sport (and related non sport agencies) at a regional, sub regional and local level, to find out more about investment to create an active capital through sport and active recreation using the Community Investment Fund.

Philip Lewis, Chair – Regional Sports Board Sport England – London said: “As the strategic lead for community sport in London, with a core function as a grant giving body, we will use the Investment Strategy as a crucial supplement to our overall strategic goal of increasing adult participation in sport and active recreation by 1% a year.”
