How should sport be represented?
PPS12 Companion Guide (p.105) suggests that proposals maps should include: locations and sites for particular land uses and development proposals included in any adopted development plan documents. They should set out the areas to which specific policies apply i.e. illustrate in map form all site-specific policies in all the adopted development plan documents. This should be complemented by other policy themes such as open space and leisure uses. From undertaking a local sport and recreation strategy, current key sites and proposed locations should have been identified. Thus key sport and recreation facilities (existing and proposed) need to be shown, such as those of regional or sub-regional importance which are identified as Significant Areas for Sport (SASPs).
