Five rugby clubs in the north of England were presented with their Clubmark awards at half-time during the Great Britain v Australia Tri-Nations rugby league match on 13 November.

The presentations celebrated the significant achievements of five of the games' clubs:

Halifax Rugby League Football Club is the game’s sixth professional club to achieve Clubmark with Peterlee Pumas the first club in the north east to achieve the standard, Lock Lane is the first club in Castleford, Shaw Cross the first club in Dewsbury and Queensbury the fifth in Bradord.

Fifty-four rugby league clubs across the country now have Clubmark status and a 164 clubs are registered on the scheme.

Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs as being a quality club, having all the right procedures, policies, action plans and coaches with relevant qualifications in place.

Clubmark brings benefits such as promoting clubs within their communities, increased participation levels, developing coaches and volunteers at clubs, raising standards and receiving priority status with funding applications.
