Silver and Bronze medal for Becky Team England’s youngest competitor, fourteen-year-old Becky Downie, won a silver medal in the women’s team event and won a bronze in the women’s individual apparatus balance beam final. Becky said, “I was really pleased to get a silver in the team event, especially with a team member missing, but to win a bronze tonight in an individual event is something very special.” For the Nottingham schoolgirl tonight was what dreams were made of, and a stark contrast to how she would normally spend her Tuesday evenings. “On a Tuesday night, if I wasn’t training, I would just be doing my home work or watching television, but tonight I am at the Commonwealth Games winning a medal. I can’t believe it”, she said. |
