Sports equality is about fairness in sport, equality of access, justice, inclusion, and respect for diversity. The region recognises that inequalities do exist in sport, and that positive and proactive steps are needed to overcome these inequalities.

There is a need to change the culture and structure of sport to ensure that it becomes equally accessible to all members of society, whatever their, age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or socio-economic status.

The East Midlands Sports Equality Group has been established to address the inequalities that exist within sport in the region. The group provides strategic leadership, co-ordination and advocacy for equity in sport in the region.
