Communities in Lincolnshire will be getting opportunities to become more active through new funding of £1,723,472 for the county, announced by Sport England and Big Lottery Fund. The two organisations are working in partnership on the new £108.5 million Active England programme, which will drive forward community participation in sport and physical activity.

In Lincolnshire seven grants have been awarded

  • City of Lincoln Council working in partnership with Groundwork Lincolnshire has been awarded £76,600 to construct a multi-sports area and play area located in the Tower Estate in Lincoln and appoint a part-time community facilitator
  • Lincs Extreme Sports Association have received £625,438 to build and manage an extreme sports multi-activity facility, including BMX, skateboarding, inline skating and mountain biking at a beach front location in Skegness.
  • City of Lincoln Council working in partnership with Groundwork Lincolnshire have received £180,000 to construct a wheeled park, play area, and office base for community facilitator located at ‘the Backies’ in the Moorland ward of Lincoln, and appoint a community facilitator.
  • Keelby Parish Council in West Lindsey has been awarded £299,000 to develop a multi-purpose sports ground (football, cricket, tennis, bowls, skateboarding) with pavilion and appoint a part time sports development officer.
  • East Lindsey District Council have received £212,940 to construct a multi use games area in Louth for football, netball, tennis and basketball, plus establish a trim trail and play area, and appoint a part time worker.
  • Carres Grammar School, a Specialist Sports College in Sleaford, has been awarded £58,454 to appoint a fitness instructor and physical activity coordinator to develop fitness programmes for local children and for adults referred by GPs.
  • East Lindsey District Council have received £271,040 to construct a multi use games area in Sutton-on-Sea for football, netball, tennis and basketball, plus establish a trim trail and play area, and appoint a part time worker.
