Pay and benefits

Annual leave

32 days annual leave entitlement in addition to public holidays.

Pension scheme

We provide employees with access to a Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme (GSPS) run by AEGON. Employees can contribute up to 6.5% of salary, and Sport England will contribute up to 11%. Membership of the pension scheme includes life assurance cover of 2 x basic annual salary.

Travel season ticket loans

Interest free loans for season ticket and other work related travel costs.

Sport England provides financial support for employees to undertake regular fitness - based activity. An allowance of up to a maximum of £500 per annum is available to employees, who take part in a regular fitness based activity, (e.g. Gym membership, membership of a Sports Club, Tennis lessons, Yoga)

Bike loans

Interest free loans are available to colleagues for the purchase of a push bike to use to commute to and from work.

Cycle to work scheme

Our cycle to work scheme which allows colleagues to sacrifice part of their salary to obtain a bicycle on which they do not have to pay VAT, and tax and national insurance will not be deducted and enables colleagues to save up to 43% (standard rate tax payers) or 50 % (higher rate tax payers) on the price of the bike.

Family leave policies

Sport England offers generous maternity and maternity support benefits including 9-months enhanced maternity (subject to qualifying conditions) and 3-weeks paid maternity support leave (subject to qualifying conditions).

Sport England also recognises that there may be occasions when colleagues need to take leave for family reasons and has comprehensive policies on leave for dependent care and other domestic emergencies.

Childcare vouchers

Sport England is committed to supporting parents within the work environment by allowing parents to make savings on their childcare costs. Through the Childcare Voucher scheme parents can sacrifice a portion of their gross salary in exchange for an equal value of childcare vouchers, allowing a saving to be made on tax and national insurance contributions.

Healthcare plans

Sport England has arranged for employees to benefit from preferential subscription rates with two healthcare providers (BUPA & Benenden).

Through the ‘you at work’ scheme colleagues can access a wide selection of discounted products & services (i.e. insurance, music & travel).
