Breaking barriers: Sports courses for women in Bury, Bolton and Salford

Up to 200 women in Bolton, Bury and Salford are being given the chance to get qualified in sport for free thanks to a new European-funded initiative at Bury College.

Bury College is offering places on the flexible part-time courses in fitness, sports coaching and health related exercise for children from September to help women in the Greater Manchester areas get the vital qualifications needed to progress a career in sport.

Working with GreaterSport, SkillsActive (the sector skills council for sport) and Sport England, Bury College has secured European Social Fund support for the three courses, plus some additional funding to help with childcare and other costs.

The courses will run from September 2007 until March 2008:

For more information on how to take advantage of these free qualifications and put your sporting career on the right track, contact Bury College on 0800 0925 900 or visit www.burycollege.ac.uk
