Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust recently hosted
the second NGB joint engagement days in Loughborough.
The theme of the two days was Challenges and
Opportunities.
The first day's workshops focused on how the sporting landscape
has changed and how NGBs can respond in conjunction with Sport
England and the YST.
The second day included a series of workshops focused on
opportunities within the new environment. Copies of all the
presentations are available below.
Sport England also hosted a workshop on informal
sport for new consumers, giving examples of NGBs providing
informal sports experiences to new participants, and understanding
how these new consumers can both grow and sustain
participation.
The session considered questions such as:
- How can NGBs provide compelling experiences for new
consumers?
- How can they sustain this participation alongside the more
formal and traditional elements of their sport?
- What can NGBs learn from each?
British Cycling presented on its work with Skyride as an example
of an NGB working to provide new events that target new consumers
and how this work is shaping the NGB’s overall strategy and product
/ service offer.
The feedback from the session has been very positive, with
suggestions on future themes including Developing Customer
Relationships and Business Development
Skills.
Copies of all the presentations have also been made available
through the regional forums. If you require further information on
the event please contact your NGB RM for national enquiries or your
CSRM for regional enquiries.
The next engagement days will take place on 18th and 19th July
at Loughborough. More details will follow in the coming months.
