Ping! nominated for Sport Industry Award
Sport England funded table tennis project,
Ping!, has been shortlisted for Sports Participation Event of the
Year in the Sport Industry Awards 2013.
Launched in 2010 in London, the innovative
table tennis programme places ping pong tables in community for a
month for all to enjoy. After its success in London, other
cities to experience the fun of the programme include Hull,
Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Brighton, Sheffield, Leicester and
the New Forest.
Created by Sing London - the participatory
arts organisation - and delivered with the English Table Tennis
Association, Ping! embraces the growing market for social table
tennis and has re-established it in the public’s imagination as a
fun, sociable and desirable sport to play.
Those shortlisted for the Awards will now go forward
for consideration by the main judging panel, who will decide the
winners in each category. The results will be announced at the
star-studded Sport Industry Awards ceremony on Thursday, 2 May
2013.
