Mentioned in the Doomsday Book, the 800 year old Bisham Abbey, once home to English nobility, is now a prestigious training venue for over 20 different sports and home to the south east region of the English Institute of Sport (EIS), England Hockey and the WIN Tennis Academy.

A £2 million investment has ensured home-grown athletes training for 2012 will have access to the best possible facilities as they bid for Olympic and Paralympic gold.

Bisham is owned by the Sports Council Trust Company (SCTC) and provides a range of sports facilities for the elite and community.

The sports facilities at Bisham include:

  • Indoor and outdoor tennis courts
  • International artificial hockey pitch with 2 practice D's
  • 3 grass football/rugby pitches
  • 90 station community gym
  • A heavy weights strength and conditioning gym for elite athletes
  • 9 hole golf course
  • A sports science sports medicine facility used for elite athlete training.
  • Accommodation facilities, comprising 52 rooms either single or twin bedded
  • Classroom and conference / meeting rooms

Bisham Abbey is currently operated by Serco Leisure Operating Limited (SLOL). It has achieved excellent accreditation under the Standard for Service and Business Excellence through the Institute of Hospitality, with a score of 73% and achieved a rating of 'Excellent' from Quest, the UK Quality scheme for sport and leisure, renowned for defining industry standards and good practice.
